High School volleyball in Southern California is a tradition. Olympic and pro athletes have made SoCal their home. There is overwhelming community engagement for the sport on both hardwood and sand.
The local areas have embraced the sport and by the overwhelming support for the sport found in most towns in the area. At the beginning of the season, I can’t help but think of the future. Where will we all be in four months?
Some student athletes will be graduating. Ready to step through another doorway of live. Others will be ready for summer camps and the end of spring classes.
Some volleyballers will look back on this last year and remember the perfect ‘set’ they had against Culver. Or the perfect ‘tip against Costa.
The competition across California is tough. Who could win a CIF Title? How many battles between private schools and public ones will we see?
One thing is sure, the scholar athletes playing today are building foundations for stable future.
