SANTA MONICA – (Updated) The Brentwood Eagles were poised to make a comeback against SAMO after the Vikings jumped to an early two-set lead. The Eagles OH, Xander G., had multiple crosscourt slams that steadily moved the Eagles toward victory. That is until setter, Maceo G., came up with three big blocks that rallied the Vikings and supercharged the team.
What really helped the Vikings win though were the two separate serving streaks by the Libero, Cameron Q. and OH, Sean S. Both players served multiple times and the Eagles were unable to connect their serve / receive with the heat coming across the net.
The play continued as Nate J. set the ball backward to the Oppo., Julian B., who bludgeoned the ball to the opposite corner to rack up a point for the Vikings.
The Vikings Varsity team will be back in the action on Monday as they set their sites on defeating Culver City in their first away game. Brentwood will host Viewpoint at the Eagledome on March 5th at 4:30 PM PST.

(Original Post) – The Santa Monica Boys varsity volleyball team is on a roll. Last night, they defeated Beverly Hills in three quick sets. Coach Pete Barraza rotated in all the varsity players giving the guys a chance to sharpen their skills in front of the net.
Nate J. went in as the setter and on separate occasions dazzled the fans with quick sets to the middle players, Alex B. and Ali B. who handily pummeled the sets straight down allowing the Vikings to quickly jump ahead. Caspar H. got some air and hang time before he hit multiple cross court rockets that BH was unable to stop.
The JV team also played against the JV team from Bev Hills and tucked in their first pre-season win.
Brentwood played against and defeated Culver City last week at the Eagledome. The game went to a full five sets but Brentwood was able to beat Culver City 3 sets to 2. Later today, Brentwood will play against Hawthorne MSA at the Eagledome.
