SANTA MONICA (March 21, 2025) – The Beverly Hills Normans are travelling west to meet the Santa Monica Vikings in the first and only time the two teams will meet during regular season play.
Yesterday, the Normans defeated Centennial in four sets. Earlier in the week, they took a set off of Culver City but ultimately lost to the Centaurs in four sets.
Santa Monica comes into tonight’s game as the favored team. Last night, they defeated Culver City in three sets. Jaffa, the setter, is doing a great job of moving the ball around to the Outside Hitters and the Middle Blockers. Badr, an Outside Hitter, is hitting hard and showing a surprising amount of prowess and skill. He is seeing the court and developed his spatial awareness.
Coach Barraza was a little concerned about last night’s game against Culver City. If the Vikings were defeated, their chances of reaching the CIF would have been jeopardized. But, the Vikings played like a well-oiled rowing machine and enabled their Coach to walk away with a big smile.
“I was a little worried,” Coach Barraza said. “But, the guys are all playing well and I expect good things to continue happening.”
Tonight, we can expect to hear some music during the time-outs and between the sets. The Santa Monica High School Pep Band has agreed to play for the audience.
