SANTA MONICA – The Santa Monica Vikings High School boys varsity volleyball team plays their last home game against Culver City tonight.
Santa Monica comes into the game after a Monday loss against Mira Costa in Manhattan Beach. While, Culver City lost against Peninsula earlier in the week. Both teams are hoping to clench the wildcard position for the CIF tournament.
Tonight’s home game will be the last time the seniors will play at SAMO as part of the team. From here, the graduates will move through the open doors of life as they pursue their bright futures in law, business, or science.
The team travelled to Santa Barbara to play in a tournament. We shot some video of the guys just being themselves.

Over the years, the seniors have played different sports such as soccer, volleyball, baseball, and track. Through their participation in sports, they learned about respect, teamwork, dedication, and above all, friendship.
On the court, Coaches Barraza, Johno, and Sato have prepared the team members to be ready to face whatever adversity life presents. These life lessons, family, and community have well prepared the seniors and other team members to be ready for a successful life as they choose to define it.
Congratulations to all the seniors who are ready to launch into the world. The Santa Monica community supports you.
Tonight’s game will be live streamed here. The live stream will start at 4:50 pm.
Thanks to all the parents and volunteers who helped throughout the season. Special thanks to AK for lending his voice. “Let’s go SAMO!”
