SANTA MONICA – Three weeks ago, at the Costa gym in Manhattan Beach, the Vikings and the Panthers met for the first time during the 2024 season. The game was played on the second day of The Varsity Classic hosted by Redondo Beach and Mira Costa High Schools.
SAMO defeated Peninsula 25-23, and 25-19.
Early in the season, a few Peninsula players were placed on the DL. As of this writing, the Panthers should have a full roster of eager players looking to even the score with the Vikings.
Santa Monica is looking good this year. After years of methodically rebuilding the team under Coach Liane Sato’s guidance and Coach Pete Barraza’s direction, the team is coming together nicely. Though still early in the season, Coach Barraza believes the boys have a way to go before they hit their stride and realize their full potential. But, he is confident in the boys ability.
The Vikings have a full roster as well. Both setter, Maceo G. and outside hitter, Colin H. are expected to be back with the team today.
The Vikings will take to the court today on a three-game winning streak. They defeated Culver City, Brentwood, and Beverly Hills.
