This year, Santa Monica has seen a lot of pedestrian accidents.  As of April, five people had already been killed.  This morning, at 5:10 AM, another accident was reported on the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to a press release from the Santa Monica Police Department.

The SMPD and paramedics arrived to the scene to find that pedestrian was severely injured.  The Department of Paramedics did try to treat the pedestrian, however he soon died at the scene.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on PCH, causing the road to be shut down for several hours.  The Santa Monica Police Department has since tweeted out that PCH has reopened.

The driver, who was at the scene when the authorities arrived, has been cooperative and there are currently no initial signs that the driver was impaired.  An investigation in underway and the investigators would like to speak to anyone in the area at the time of the collusion. Anyone with information should contact Investigator Jason Olson at (310) 458-8954, Lieutenant Cobarrubias at (310) 458-8445 or the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8495.
